新的安装引导程序已经推出, 如果你现在准备好了下面的清单, 可以开始在PS3游戏机上安装Fedora Core 5. (注, 赵珂网志也运行在Fedora Core 5之上). Sony已经在他们官方网站”Playstation开放平台“栏目发布了最新的OtherOS(其它系统)引导程序. 我们最快来向大家介绍如何在ps3上安装FC5(Fedora Core 5), 由于我们几个小时前才获得PS3, 在我们没有发布全部安装参考图片之前, 请按下面步骤安装:
首先, 下载列表中的所有清单:
PS3 Linux Addon CD - 以(4x - 16x)速烧录到CD上, 大小41.77 MB.
OtherOS Installer - Sony提供, 大小1.29MB.
Fedora Core 5 PPC image (DVD)
这里详细说明一下, PPC是Fedora Core 5的Power PC版本. 请以(2x - 8x)速烧录到DVD上.
下载:
HTTP下载 - 这里 (速度还不错, 大小3.3GB.)
Bittorrent下载 - 这里
你将需要一个USB键盘和鼠标在PS3上使用Linux! 请务必准备好这两件物品!
然后做好下面的安装准备工作:
你将需要一个USB存储盘(可以是一个Memeory Stick, CF卡, 外接硬盘, 等..)
把盘连接到PC.
以root身份在盘上创建一个”PS3″目录.(注意linux上区分大小写, 作者原文中是大写)
在”PS3″目录里创建一个”otheros”目录.
移动文件otheros.self到USB存储盘的”otheros”目录.
现在, 使用类似WinRAR软件打开我们刚才下载的Addon CD ISO文件.
在ISO文件中, 浏览kboot目录, 你可以发现一个文件 - otheros.bld
在你的USB存储盘上解压缩otheros.bld到otheros目录.
现在, 从计算机上取下USB盘, 然后连接到PS3机器.
在继续下面操作前, 确认你已经格式化PS3的硬盘.
创建两个分区, 一个将用于linux, 另一个用于PS3游戏. 如果你的PS3硬盘有20GB, 你可以给每个分区分配10GB的空间.
如果硬盘空间更大, 请根据自己的需要来分配空间.
现在去Settings Menu(设置菜单) -> System Settings(系统设置) -> Install Other OS(安装其它系统).
点击OK开始安装, 然后将安装kboot image到PS3.
完成后, 回到菜单.
浏览Settings(设置) -> System Settings(系统设置) - Default System (缺省系统), 然后选择”Other OS(其它系统)”.
现在你已经从缺省菜单中选择了其它操作系统安装方式. 机器重启后, 你将会看到”其它操作系统引导程序(Other OS installer”的欢迎信息. 这时如果你想终止安装, 重起机器, 在机器启动的时候, 按住Power按钮5分钟. 这样做将把PS3机器重置到工厂模式.
好的, 现在把Fedora Core 5 DVD放到PS3.
重启动你的PS3.
当PS3启动时候, 你可以看到Fedora Core 5安装程序的kboot欢迎信息.
你只能通过DVD安装, 不支持CD!
当安装开始, 一个硬盘分区被识别 - sda linux分区.
在kboot提示符下, 输入”install-fc sda”(意思是安装fc系统到sda分区中).
启动后, 你可以在屏幕看到下面信息:
Please insert Fedora Core install DVD.
Is it Ok?(y/n):
输入y或直接确认开始安装.
然后, 选择安装方式:
Fedora Core minimum install
Fedora Core full install
一个是最小方式, 一个是完整安装方式, 请根据你的需要来选择. 我们推荐完整安装方式, 这样你可以使用Fedora Core 5的所有功能. 然后, 将开始真正的安装, 之前需要回答几个基础问题. 请记住安装Fedora Core 5到PS3机器后, 你创建的第二个分区将被格式化, 上面所有数据会被删除.
引导程序将开始解包和安装数据到你的硬盘, 一段时候后, 你将看到:
Please insert a Addon Packages CD.
Is it OK?(y/n)
从光驱中取出Fedora Core 5 DVD, 然后把先前烧入好的Addon Disc光盘放入, 然后按y.
稍等一会儿, 你将看到下面信息:
Install done.
Type reboot to start Linux or type halt to power off
好的! Fedora Core 5成功安装到PS3. 现在你可以关闭PS3, 出去休息一下. 如果你对Linux知道的甚少, 我相信你可能会很少使用它. 然后键入reboot重起PS3. PS3启动后, 使用root登陆到系统(请记得安装过程中键入的root口令), 现在你可以开始使用Fedora Core 5系统了. 另外你可以安装PPC的所有软件包, 包括许多知名的应用程序如Mozilla Firefox, VLC player和更多..
现在如果你想回到游戏系统状态, 只要在系统引导菜单选择boot-game-os. 尽情享用你的PS3游戏机. 我们将尽快更新所有安装图片, 也许几个小时或更长. 这段时间, 请阅读Sony官方常见问题. 更多完整的Fedora Core 5兼容信息请到这里下载.

PS3的一些内核补丁(内存结构, 直接内存存取, 多内核等)已经添加到Linus内核树中. 这意味即将发布的2.6.20内核将能很好的支持PS3.

PS3除了关闭了图形加速功能,还关闭了那些呢?
请问你的PS3 是否正常工作在LINUX下.
我说的正常是
{ AMD ATHLON KT系列的普通PC平台上 稳定运行LINUX某一个发行版本.}
如果PS3是一样的,那么效能是否一致?

In addition, there’s no GPU driver(use a NVIDIA-based GPU similar to the one in GeForce 7xxx products), so you’ll be using the framebuffer for graphics. hope this helps. if u have any questions or comments, please let me know.

About performance: the PS3 console use a ibm cell CPU(run at 3.2GHZ), and Cell is sort of in a different playing field. Each of the two platforms are going to have different strong points and different weak points and the applications run on each machine will need to be written very differently as well. What causes that is that the PS3 are designed completely differently than any PC you can buy today, so trying to make a direct comparison is like comparing apples and oranges.

如果NV开放了显卡驱动的源码的话,也就意味着开放了加速功能是吧?
那么想想,在ATI方面好像开源方面有些动作!NOVELL好像有非ATI官方的驱动.如果这方面的人能写非官方的NV的驱动多号啊!
至于PPC框架的东西很不了解,我不知道了X86的区别.
不过看了用CELL来用C来写些程序,还是蛮有搞头的.呵呵.

maybe, nvidia will unveil the inner workings of its software to the open-source. it depends on the actual customer demand and competitor activity.

可惜,现在一切想法都不现实.
打听了下PS3现在价格好像在6K左右.
而且我找不到PS3是否能接 CRT或者LCD.
如果PS3降价到3K,我会去买一台来搞搞.
因为我想得到极高的性价比!! 毕竟LINUX早已经成为我的桌面了! 如果能得到CELL这种处理能力的CPU.相信一定很让我兴奋.
PS:zhaoke能否说中文. 我EN很差.

just get a hdmi to dvi or vga to S-Video/RCA connector so you can use a CRT/LCD Monitor.

有人写非官方的ati驱动是因为ati的驱动太垃圾了，根本不能用，而且已经停止了9500以下显卡的支持。
我现在用的就是开源的驱动，3d程序经常性死机，郁闷死了。如果有的选择，我宁愿当初选了nvidia。

还有，听说机器是以虚拟化的方式运行linux的吧？难道不是么？以前看别人可以一边装系统一边玩游戏。
那样的话显卡性能肯定受限制，好像虚拟化技术从来就不是很考虑显卡性能的。

In general, we install a linux system directly to ps3. if someone wanna run games os and linux on the same machine, they should use virtualization software. Apparently, this method will affect the performance of a video card.(depends on the resources allocation and limititation, such as vram, cpu, etc.)
